Thirty Minutes Makes a Dozen Flour Tortillas
Place the flour and salt in a bowl - mix until smooth. Fold in the shortening. Slowly add water, and mix. Scatter flour on waxed paper. After rolling, shift the uncooled tortillas to a hot, dry pan. Heat for 10 seconds.
A typical flour tortilla should be about seven inches wide. Our recipe was donated by a famous chef and uses white flour.
Using a spatula, lift the tortilla, and unload it in a cloth-lined basket. The process is repeated and there should be brown spots on each tortilla.
